The consortium involves 15 partners from all over Europe, academic and industrial institutions. The SKILLS kick off meeting was held on October 2, 2006, in Pisa, Italy, with all partners, launching a series of scientific and technological meetings. The first "research activity" meeting was held in Bilbao on November 9-10, 2006. The first "demonstration activity" meeting was held in Oberpfaffenofen, Germany, on December 11-12, 2006.

For the first time in European history, a large amount of resources have been given to a pluridisciplinary consortium doing fundamental and applied research in human movement, including sport & entertainment, surgery & rehabilitation, and manufacturing.
